Her owner said, “Absolutely not,” in response to the veterinarians’ advice to give up.
Melanie James was at a loss for what to do in May after learning that her huge rabbit was paralyzed due to a collapsed hip. Melanie, who adopted Bertha the rabbit four years ago, refused to do what the veterinarian had advised: “The nicest thing would be to put her down.”
Melanie actually just said, “she still [has] so much life!”
So Melanie bought a doggie wheelchair, letting her creative side run wild. “I actually thought, ‘If it works for a dog, then why not a rabbit?'” after seeing canines in wheelchairs.

The fluffy rabbit is thrilled and bouncing up a storm with her “back leg” replacements!
“Hopefully, she will be able to move again in the not-too-distant future,” Melanie remarked. “The chair is truly functioning so well that both the veterinarian and I are in awe.”
A tale of tenacity and resolve for the benefit of another is what we enjoy hearing.
