A stray kitten observed the comfortable interior life via a patio window. She was interested in trying it.

Some weekends, Linda from Montreal stays in a cottage outside of the city with her family. On her terrace one day, she saw two stray kittens searching for food.

After feeding the kittens for a while, she managed to rescue one of them. The brown tabby ran away and was never seen again. When Linda returned to the cabin a few weeks later, a familiar face reappeared.

The tabby was back on the patio, looking suspiciously out the window. She looked more hungry than ever and was a little taller and thinner.

When Linda came near the kitten, it would attempt to flee. To help her rescue her, Linda rented a humane trap rather than trying to catch her by hand. The hungry kitty entered immediately away after being unable to resist the food’s aroma.

The timid kitten was adopted by Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an animal shelter, and given the name Bouskie.

She was thought to be three months old, severely underweight, parasite-infested, and covered with matted fur. They took care of her and untangled her coat. Despite her restraint and caution, she was not a cruel person.

She was scared and bewildered when she first got to her foster home, scuttling low to the ground and hopping from hiding spot to hiding spot. “She stayed in the cardboard box bed her foster mother made for her because it felt secure.”

Only when no one else was around did she emerge from the box to eat and use the litter box. She was incredibly silent as she observed everything going on around her.

Bouskie gradually became more at ease in her environment, but she remained too timid to step outside of her comfort zone.

“With the kitten in her arms, her foster mother would carry her to the couch, wrap her up like a purrito, and watch TV.”

“Rather than attempting to flee, Bouskie was fascinated by the other cats in the house and enjoyed watching them play and run across the living room.”

A week later, the kitty found the confidence to venture out on short trips. She hurried between the rooms, inspecting every corner and crevice. Her fun side came out when she was given toys, and she became a happy little girl.

Bouskie has developed the courage to request attention and petting and has learned to love the companionship of her people. She has gradually emerged from her shell. She wants to mimic everything other kitties do, loves them, and follows them around.

The formerly shy cat has developed into a contented, laid-back youngster with a loud voice during mealtimes.

She simply wants to be liked and loves her new life. Before coming to us, Bouskie didn’t know anyone, but now she purrs as soon as she’s in our arms.
